Creative Tauranga Community Art Gallery 112 Willow Street, Tauranga
18 June - 29 June 2010
Matariki, is the begining of our Maori New Year and will be celebrated both nationally and internationally. With so many of us in need of a new begining along side the change of season, it will bring forth a unity of indigenous people. Celebrations throughout the world will be expressed through the sharing of many activities and the excitement of positive energy flowing will be boundless. Maori in New York, USA, are preparing for Matariki with Waiata, Haka and mahi Kai. Acknowledging our past and looking to the future.
Creative Tauranga, Community Art Gallery, is holding it's third annual art exhibition with the theme of "Ipu" ( a vessel). This year 11 local Maori artists including myself will be creating our own interpretation for the Matariki art exhibition, through Mixed Media, Paintings, Weaving and Sculpture. Tauranga will be in full swing with performing arts, music, beautiful kai and celebrations of all things Maori. Come on down for a perusal and enjoy our Maori New Year people.
